From 10 to 21 October 2022, the “NATO Advanced Media Operations Course” was conducted in the premises of MPSOTC. The Course provided training to 16 military Officers and Civilians from 8 NATO countries with the purpose to prepare them for service in a NATO Strategic Communications Directorate Public Affairs Branch, as Media Operations specialists.
The Course which is the result of a training consortium with NATO School Oberammergau, is designed and developed under the guidance of the StratCom Center of Excellence to meet the training requirements of NATO SHAPE HQ. Once it receives certification by the Alliance it will be considered a prerequisite for service in a relevant position in NATO HQs.
StratCom Center of Excellence provided course quality assurance support and along with NATO School Oberammergau, NATO ACT and SHAPE HQs directly supported the course with SMEs.
The municipal television of Thessaloniki, TV-100, provided its TV studio to cover the needs for a realistic media environment in media training.
The course is the Advanced form of the successful Basic Public Affairs Course that MPSOTC is running for more than 10 years which has trained more than 580 students from 48 countries. This was the first time that two “Education and Training Facilities -ETFs”, join forces to design and deliver the same, high-level, training for NATO to cover the Alliance’s training needs.
