NATO CIMIC Field Workers Course (18-29 Nov 24)

From 18th to 29th November 2024, the Hellenic MPSOTC successfully conducted the “NATO CIMIC Field Workers Course” with the participation of 35 professionals from 11 different countries. This course aimed to equip attendees with the essential insights and competencies necessary for effective Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), emphasizing the importance of synergistic collaboration between NATO Military Forces, civil authorities, and various governmental and non-governmental organizations within deployment zones.

Participants were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum delivered by MPSOTC’s and foreign seasoned CIMIC specialists from Civil-Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence, Multinational CIMIC Group, Military Training Centre for Foreign Operations, 1st Special Warfare Training Group and 21st Theater Sustainment Command, covering key topics such as NATO’s Civil-Military Operations doctrine, negotiation tactics, and the pivotal roles of Humanitarian Aid Organizations.

Additionally, the course highlighted crucial subjects including media and gender awareness, resilience through civil preparedness, challenges faced by children in armed conflicts, and the broader scope of women, peace, and security.

A practical command post exercise enabled attendees to actively apply their newly acquired knowledge simulating real-world scenarios and challenges, with the help of local authorities and Police Directorate of Kilkis.

CIMIC is a cornerstone of operational capability for NATO Forces, particularly during the initial phases of force deployment, and remains instrumental across various operational spectrums.

Conducted in strict adherence to NATO standards and under the guidance of the CIMIC Centre of Excellence, this course reaffirms MPSOTC’s commitment to fostering operational excellence and meaningful collaboration in mission-critical contexts.
