Cultural Property Protection Course 2022 (05 – 09 Sep 22)

To serve Peace Support Operations (PSOs) training tasks and requirements,
MPSOTC is going to conduct its “Cultural Property Protection” Course from 05th till 09th of Sep 2022.

Overall Aim

The overall purpose of the course is to familiarize Officers, NCOs and Civilians with all aspects of Cultural Property Protection, including the responsibilities of Armed Forces and Non-State Actors, Data Collection and Risk Assessment. During the course students will develop and improve their skills and knowledge, in order to be capable of establishing, organizing, manning, equipping Cultural Property Protection units/teams, providing a basic training on issues related to the personnel with relevant duties.

 

Methodology

In Classroom Lessons, Workshops and Field Exercise.

 

Learning Outcomes

Through general orientation, within one-week theory and practice, students will elaborate on a variety of topics such as: Legal Framework Governing CPP, Responsibilities of Armed Forces and Non-State Actors across the spectrum of armed conflict, Criminological Aspects in Illicit Trade of Cultural Property, etc.

 

Pre-Requisites

To be eligible for the “Cultural Property Protection” Course, nominees must fulfill the following criteria:

– Military Personnel with a general military background experience from national duties.

– Military Personnel ranking from OR-8 (Master Sergeant) to OF-5 (Colonel).

– Law Enforcement Personnel ranking from OR-8 to OF-5 (army equivalent).

– Civilians and employees coming from Private Security Sector or relevant background.

– Public servants are equally welcomed from other levels of governance i.e. Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Environment, Culture and Internal Affairs as well.

– Language proficiency: Non-native English-speaking Students must have the following proficiency standards in English, as described in NATO STANAG 6001: Listening: Good (3), Speaking: Fair (2), Reading: Good (3) and Writing: Fair (2). – For non-military personnel, same language proficiency is needed, according to the relevant international standards for language competence.
