NATO CIMIC Field Workers Course

From 09 to 20 October 2023, MPSOTC successfully carried out the “NATO CIMIC Field Workers’ Course” with the participation of 34 professionals across 12 countries.

The course aimed to equip attendees with foundational insights and competencies necessary for effective Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), emphasizing synergistic collaboration between NATO Military Forces, civil authorities, and various governmental and non-governmental organizations within deployment zones.

Participants were immersed in an in-depth curriculum presented by seasoned CIMIC specialists, covering crucial aspects such as NATO’s Civil-Military Operations doctrine, negotiation tactics, and the integral roles of Humanitarian Aid Organizations.

Furthermore, the course shed light on topics including media and gender awareness, as well as resilience through civil preparedness, the challenges faced by children in armed conflicts and the broader scope of women, peace, security.

A practical command post exercise allowed attendees to actively apply their newly acquired knowledge, simulating real-world scenarios and challenges. We are particularly grateful for the support of the Kilkis local authorities and Police Directorate, whose involvement added a layer of realism and practicality to the exercises.

CIMIC is a cornerstone of operational capability for NATO Forces, particularly during the initial phases of force deployment, and is instrumental across various operational spectrums.

Conducted in strict adherence to NATO standards and under the guidance of the CIMIC Center of Excellence, this course reaffirms MPSOTC’s commitment to fostering operational excellence and meaningful collaboration in mission-critical contexts.
