From 12 to 23 October 2026, the Hellenic Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Center (MPSOTC) successfully hosted the “NATO CIMIC Field Workers Course,” welcoming 34 participants from 9 nations. This intensive program was designed to equip attendees with the critical knowledge and skills required for effective Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), underscoring the vital synergy between NATO military forces, civil authorities, and governmental and non-governmental organizations operating in deployment zones.
Participants engaged in a robust curriculum delivered by seasoned CIMIC experts from both MPSOTC and international institutions, including the NATO CIMIC Centre of Excellence – CCOE, Multinational CIMIC Group, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (A), and 21st Theater Sustainment Command. Subject matter experts from Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR), and representatives from IOs also contributed their expertise. This diverse instructional team ensured a rich exchange of perspectives, reinforcing the importance of interoperability and shared understanding in multinational missions.
Key topics included NATO’s Civil-Military doctrine, negotiation strategies, and the essential roles of humanitarian aid organizations.
The course also addressed critical themes such as resilience and NATO’s cross-cutting topics.
A practical command post exercise enabled attendees to actively apply their newly acquired knowledge simulating real-world scenarios and challenges. This exercise was conducted in collaboration with local authorities and the Police Directorate of Kilkis, providing a realistic and dynamic learning environment.
CIMIC as a joint function, remains a foundational element of NATO’s operational effectiveness and plays a pivotal role across the full spectrum of missions.
As one of NATO’s Accredited Training Facilities, authorized to deliver NATO-approved courses, MPSOTC’s delivery of this course in full alignment with NATO standards reaffirms its commitment to operational excellence and the promotion of meaningful, mission-critical collaboration.
