“From 28th August to 1st September 2023, MPSOTC, in collaboration with the European Security and Defence College – ESDC, proudly conducted the “Cross-Cultural Competency in CSDP Missions and Operations” course.
Hosting a diverse group of 22 students from 10 countries, this course was meticulously designed to instill a deep understanding of the cultural environment in CSDP missions.
Our aim was to equip participants with a comprehensive set of cross-cultural knowledge and skills, emphasizing the importance of Cultural Awareness, integrating the Story Cycle approach, and formulating an effective Cross-Cultural Strategy.
Moreover, participants honed their Communication Skills and explored Gender Issues in depth. They also engaged in exercises that sharpened their Cross-Cultural Negotiation techniques and learned the intricacies
of Cultural Property Protection.
Understanding and respecting diverse cultures is imperative for the success of missions. We believe that through this course, we are making a valuable contribution to this essential aspect of training and eagerly anticipate more collaborative efforts with ESDC in the future.
